Match Report from the 10th February
Whites 4 V Danson Boys 1
A thoroughly convincing win on a glorious day at Mayplace.
The only difficult thing today was putting the goals out on time
but Geoffs' "net technology expertise" was awesome !
Without Jack and Charlie Reilly it was again a case of a couple
of boys filling in out of position but we looked strong
throughout the team and should have scored more.
Charlie Cox began the scoring as we opened the opposition up on
the left after more good work from Jamie.
We quickly got into our stride and Ben scored a fantastic second
after beating three players before striking an unstppoable shot
past the keeper (George from last seasons' White Team who had a
good game).
We drifted a bit after that and allowed Danson back into the
game briefly when they were awarded a penalty after an
unfortunate handball in the box as we tried to clear a rare
attack.
Reece nearly saved the spot kick on another day where he dealt
expertly with the few bits of work he was required to carry out
behind a strong defence of Charlie Millward,Daniel,Zak and Joel.
The introduction of Manny gave us more variety upfront and the
link play improved before Charlie Cox set Tommy free to run half
the length of the pitch before one of his pile drivers flew in
as we have seen on other occasions this season.
If 3-1 at half time was deserved, the final score of 4-1 did not
tell the tale of a dominant second half.
We were first to every ball in midfield with Kane a constant
menace,a fact that the opposition manager was keen to keep
screaming at their boys as we continued to create chances.
Matt was excellent upfront with Manny after his half time
entrance, held the ball up well and led the line with
intelligence.
His contribution was rewarded when he headed another of Joels'
superb corners over the line.
We continued to create goalscoring opportunites and on another
day Luke would have scored a hat - trick.
Particularly well done to Ben,Manny,Matt for the forward play
and Reece who is looking more accomplished each week,we do
however need to be more clinical in front of goal as this will
cost us against better teams.
As for the parents,we have all obviously been made aware of last
weeks' comments but need to take on board that the management
team dont want the parents to stop the encouragement of the
boys, only the confusion that is created by giving them
conflicting instructions to those given by Brian,Steve and
Jimmy. |
